Preservation Statesville

Statesville, NC

The Holland Building, which is now home to the Statesville Historical Collection, has a rich history of its own. It was constructed in 1919 on the site of the grand Hotel Iredell, which had burned down a few years earlier. Over the years, the building has housed a variety of businesses, including Ramsey’s, Woolworth's, and the Westmoreland Antique Mall in the 2010s.

In 2022, a group of local history enthusiasts approached the building owner about the possibility of renovating the Downtown property and turning it into a permanent home for the Statesville Historical Collection. The aim was to establish a place where the vast collection of photographs, artifacts, and memorabilia could be displayed for future generations. The renovation work to create a gallery and exhibition space is currently underway by G.L. Wilson Building Company. Their vision is now becoming a reality!
